AKWA UTD BEGIN CLOSED CAMPING AHEAD OF CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Nigeria Professional Football League Champions Akwa United have embarked on a three day closed camping in Omoku, Rivers State ahead of their CAF Champions League first leg preliminary round match against CR Belouizdad of Algeria.

A team comprising Twenty-nine (29) players, six coaches and other officials departed Uyo in the early hours of Monday and arrived Omoku where they hope to intensify their preparations ahead of this weekend’s Champions League match in Uyo.

Coach Kennedy Boboye’s team will play at least one friendly game while in Omoku as they hope to make an impactful debut in Africa’s premier competition, the CAF Champions League.

The Promise Keepers have been training at the Ikot Ekpene Stadium since they resumed for the new football season last month. They have played two friendly games against fellow champions league campaigners, Rivers United in which they won 1-0 at Ikot Ekpene and lost by the same margin in Port Harcourt.

The NPFL Champions will return to Uyo on Thursday 9th September, to finalise their preparations for the September 12th game at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the Nest of Champions.
