Players and officials of Akwa United enjoyed a safe and smooth flight on board Dana Airlines from Port Harcourt to Abuja on Friday afternoon en route Gombe for a rescheduled Matchday 2 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League billed for Sunday.
The Promise Keepers made a short trip from Uyo to Port Harcourt from where they boarded Dana Air to Abuja. The two-time Federation Cup Champions had late last year extended their flight partnership agreement with the foremost airline to be airlifting the team to and from away games.
Dana Air and Akwa United have enjoyed robust partnership which the Team Manager of the club Sir Emmanuel Udoh described as “beneficial to both parties and encouraging for the growth of football in Nigeria”.
According to the Team Manager, “I can authoritatively say that our impressive form away from home this season is as a result of this wonderful partnership with Dana Air which usually made it possible for our players to arrive match venues without stress from road travels.
“We have won one and drawn two of our four away games so far this season because we always arrive the venue fresh and strong. We are grateful to Dana Air and really appreciate this partnership”.
The Promise Keepers are 3rd on the log with 15 points from 9 games and with superior goal difference of +6. They could move top of the NPFL (Group B) if the win on Sunday against 11th placed Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium.
