AKWA UTD SALUTE PAUL BASSEY ON IMC APPOINTMENT

The management, staff and players of Akwa United Football Club have congratulated Elder Paul Bassey on his appointment by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development as the Vice Chairman of the Interim Management Committee to oversee the activities of Nigeria Professional Football League.

In a letter signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations Mohammed Manga,
Elder Paul Bassey was appointed alongside nine others into a ten-man Interim Management Committee to be headed by Gbenga Elegbeleye as the Chairman.

Team Manager of Akwa United Sir Emmanuel Udoh congratulated the club chairman Elder Paul Bassey and described his appointment as well deserved and one that will be appreciated by lovers of football in Nigeria.

“It is indeed a joyful news for all of us at Akwa United that our Chairman Elder Paul Bassey has been appointed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development into the Interim Management Committee to administer club football in Nigeria. This is one appointment that we and many football stakeholders really appreciate.

“Elder Bassey is a brilliant sport administrator and his appointment by the Ministry is well deserved. Like a golden fish that has no hiding place, he is currently the Senior Special Assistant on Sports to the Akwa Ibom State Government and we have seen how he has transformed the sports landscape in the state in the last seven years.

“His wealth of experience at FIFA and CAF as Match Commissioner/ Instructor as well as his wonderful contributions to the growth of sports especially football in Nigeria is evident in the successes he has achieved as the Chairman of Akwa United Football Club since his appointment in 2016.

“Elder Bassey is a round peg in a round hole and we have no doubt that he will perform creditably in the committee as we look forward to a better and improve league football in Nigeria”.

Sir Emmanuel Udoh also congratulated the Chairman of the IMC Gbenga Elegbeleye, Head of Operations Davidson Owumi, Barrister Danladi Ibrahim, Daniel Amokachi and all other members of the Committee and wished them success in the task ahead.
