AKWA UTD STORMS ABUJA FOR ZAMFARA UTD FEEDERS’ CLASH

Two-time Federation Cup champions Akwa United will be hoping to secure their spot in the last 16 in the 2024 Presidential Federation Cup competition when they engage the Zamfara United Feeders team in the round of 32 at the Bwari mini stadium in Abuja on Thursday.

The Promise Keepers made it to the round of 32 after beating Cynosure Football Club of Abakiliki 1-0 at the Dan Anyiam stadium in Owerri while Zamfara United Feeders defeated Mighty Jets of Jos with the same goal margin to book their place in the round of 32.

Akwa United, winners of the FA Cup in 2015 and 2017 will be aiming to lift the trophy for the third time nine years as they hope to end their football season on a high.

Head Coach of the team Muhammed Babaganaru in an exclusive interview with the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.com disclosed that his players are fully committed and determined to ensure record victories in all their remaining matches this season beginning with the match against Zamfara United Feeders.

” We are all aware of how teams play in Cup competitions and that is why we don’t want to leave any stone unturned. It is a very critical time for us at Akwa United and we are more than ready for our match on Thursday. We have done a lot of work and we believe that the boys are fully committed and dedicated for the task ahead. 

“The most important thing is that we are going to take it one game at a time and the one in front of us is the Presidential Federation Cup game against Zamfara United Feeders. Although we don’t know much about the team, we believe that they are a good team with ambition and that is why we have to put in everything to ensure we come out victorious and qualify to the round of 16”.
