FIRST NPFL GOAL EXCITES UCHE COLLINS

Akwa United striker, Uche Collins, says he is excited after scoring his first top flight goal in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, adding that his desire is to score more goals that will help his team to achieve their set target this season.

Uche joined the Promise Keepers from Sokoto United at the end of last season and scored his first NPFL goal on Sunday to help his side beat Remo Stars 3-1 in Uyo.

The striker, who made his first start after two substitute appearances, hinted that his personal target for the season is to score in every match and to help his team win trophies.

Scoring my first goal in the NPFL and for Akwa United is a thing of joy for me. The goal came after I missed two chances. When I headed in Etim Mathew’s cross, it was as if a heavy burden was lifted off my shoulders, and the way my teammates celebrated with me made that moment very special.

“As a striker, it is my job to score goals and when I didn’t score in those matches I played as a substitute, I was worried. On Matchday 5 in Ibadan against Kwara United, I almost scored with my first touch but my header came off the crossbar.

” When I scored against Remo Stars, I was so excited. I’m very happy that I was able to justify my inclusion in the team and I will continue to give my best to ensure I score in every match I play to help my team win games and trophies this season”.

Uche said fans of the club deserve something special and assured that he and his teammates have resolved to put in their best to ensure the team records success at the end of the season.
