IT WAS A BAD DAY AT WORK – COACH JOLOMI

MFON PATRICK

Following his side’s 3-0 defeat to Plateau United on match-day 15 in Jos, coach Ali Jolomi of Akwa United says his team had a bad day in Jos and added that it was embarrassing losing by such margin.

Nenrot Silas opened scoring for the home side early in the first half, before two second half goals by Buhari Ibrahim and Izuchukwu Chimezie condemned the champions to their fourth defeats of the season.

According to coach Jolomi, ” this is a shocking result and as far as Akwa United is concerned, it’s embarrassing that we lost by three goals to nothing. We went into the match with a game plan, but that early goal made it difficult for us, despite the fact that we were the better side especially in the first half. I think we had a bad day and we are sincerely sorry about everything.

“We should be able to move on and put this result behind us as we look forward to our next game. We will talk with the players on all noticable lapses and we hope to get back to winning ways as soon as possible”, Coach Jolomi assured.

The defeat in Jos on Sunday was the first time in three seasons that Akwa United have failed to pick a point against Plateau United away from home.

With six wins, five draws and four loses in the opening 15 league games, the Promise Keepers are 6th on the log with 23 points, nine behind table toppers Rivers United. Akwa United will next engage Wikk Tourist in mid-week at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium – Nest of Champions.
