Head Coach of Akwa United Ayodeji Ayeni says he is confident his team will register their first win of the season in Aba on Wednesday when they engage Enyimba International on Matchday 2.

Coach Ayeni in an exclusive interview with the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.com revealed that they have put the disappointing opening day defeat to Bendel Insurance behind and said his team’s focus in on getting a positive result in Aba.

Victory in Aba is non-negotiable, we have moved on from the opening-day defeat to Bendel Insurance and we are committed and determined to register our first win of the season on Wednesday. Judging from the results after matchday 1, it’s clear that if a team is in good shape, victory away from home is very possible for any team.

“Throughout last week, we have worked on all noticeable mistakes we observed from the last game and the boys are ready and willing to deliver on Wednesday”.

Coach Ayeni confirmed that captain Ubong Friday will not make the trip to Aba after sustaining an injury on Matchday 1, but informed that he has capable replacements that will be included in the squad for the midweek game.

The Promise Keepers will play two successive away games in the space of four days; against Enyimba on Wednesday before traveling to face Nasarawa United on Matchday 3 in their adopted home ground in Jos on Saturday.
