As Akwa United continue their push for a playoff spot in Group A of the 2022-23 Nigeria Premier Football League, head Coach of the team Ayodeji Ayeni says there will be no room for complacency, adding that there is a lot of work to be done in the remaining six games in order to achieve the team’s target.
Coach Ayeni revealed this during a pre-match press conference with the club’s website www.akwaunitedfc.com on Saturday ahead of Matchday 13 tie against Nasarawa United in Uyo.
“We are not carried away by our previous results and we are very positive going forward because our focus is on Sunday’s game. I have told my players that there will be no room for complacency in the remaining six games and we are totally committed for the task ahead which is to qualify for the playoffs at the end of the season.
” I’m delighted that we are gradually moving up the log, our backline is doing well and our frontline is equally very sharp. We are going all out to ensure we score goals and also defend well.
“It’s true that we recorded our first win of the season against Nasarawa United but we are not under the euphoria of that victory anymore because this is another game altogether. On Sunday, we are going all out for the maximum points and we know that a win will help us consolidate our position on the log”.
Coach Ayodeji Ayeni has urged his players to be ready to give their best against Nasarawa United which he described as a dangerous team.
The Promise Keepers defeated Nasarawa United 3-0 in the first installment of this fixture in Jos and will be aiming to do the double over the Lafia based team which they thrashed 6-1 last season at the Nest of Champions.
The crunch tie is scheduled to kickoff at four O’clock in the afternoon at the Nest of Champions and there will be live updates of the game on all Akwa United social media platforms.
