VICTORY IS OUR TARGET___FERNANDO

As Akwa United prepare to engage relegation threatened Plateau United in Jos, winger Wisdom Fernando  has revealed that the Promise Keepers will settle for nothing less than victory against former champions on Sunday.
Fernando in an exclusive interview with the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.net said that he and his teammates are determined to ensure the team qualify for playoffs at the end of the season.
“The match against Plateau United will be interesting in many ways.  It will be a tough battle because Plateau United are struggling to avoid relegation but we also have our target and we are fully prepared for this game.
“Our mission in Jos this weekend is to pick all three points against Plateau United. I believe that it’s a good time for us to face them. Every match is very important for us now irrespective of where we are playing. We started poorly but by the grace of God, we will finished strong among the top three in our group”.
Wisdom Fernando has scored two goals (against Kada City and Gombe United) since joining Akwa United from NNL side Akwa Starlet at the beginning of the season and he is part of the 18 man squad for this weekend’s encounter against Plateau United.
Akwa United will be facing their former coach Abdu Maikaba for the second time this season after they were forced to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture in Uyo.
NPFL leading scorer Mfon Udoh who missed his team’s last two games due to injury, has fully recovered and is selected  among the 18 players that will prosecute the Matchday 16 game in Jos. Coach Rafael Everton’s side have scored 24 goals and conceded 14 in fifteen games.
In their six previous meetings against Plateau United, the Promise Keepers have picked two wins, three draws with just one defeat and they will be aiming to further maintain their superiority over their hosts this weekend.
