Coach Fatai Osho of Akwa United has revealed that his players are beginning to understand his playing philosophy and tactics as they prepare for the 2023-24 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Promise Keepers recorded a slim win over Enugu Rangers, beating their visitors 1-0 courtesy of Oguntayo Seyi’s second-half strike in a match that was decided at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions in Uyo, Saturday afternoon.
The victory was coach Fatai Osho’s second win in five days after edging Heartland FC of Owerri by the same score line on Tuesday.
Coach Fatai told the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.com that his team is gradually achieving the much-needed blend as a unit following their recent performances in the two matches.
‘’I must say that I am really excited that the boys have picked up nicely and their level of understanding and adaptability is quite impressive. The two matches we played against Heartland and Rangers were tough games and I want to commend my players for putting up such performances and above all for playing as a team with purpose.
‘’We have achieved a lot tactically and psychologically in the last few weeks as it’s evident in our recent results. We have kept two clean sheets against two good teams and in my assessment of the two games, we are solid defensively, in the middle we are compact, going forward we are dangerous and that is commendable. We have to keep working hard to ensure we are fully ready before the start of the new season’’.
