WE ARE IN LAFIA ON A MISSION EVERTON

Head Coach of Akwa United Football Club Rafael Everton has revealed that his team is on a redemption mission to Lafia as they set to battle their hosts Nasarawa United on Matchday 5 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Monday.

The Promise Keepers are without a win in their opening three matches, and they sit in 11th position on a twelve-team Group B log of the NPFL.

Speaking with the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.net, Coach Everton said his team is in Lafia on a redemption mission.

“We are not Impress with the results we have had in our first three matches and our position on the table is not encouraging, so we have to put in our very best in every match.

“We still have 19 matches to play before the end of the season and we cannot afford to drop points anymore whether at home or away. Teams have picked vital points away from home and we are determined to do same in Lafia on Monday because I believe in the capability of my players.

“The results of our previous three matches have been very disappointing but we have put those set backs behind us. We need to make good use of our chances in front of goal, we need to score more goals because at the end of the day, it is goals that will count at the end of the match. Now, we are fully prepared and motivated for the crucial game against Nasarawa United”.

Coach Everton who explained that he is expecting a tough match in Lafia on Monday however expressed optimism that his team will come out victorious. Nasarawa United have won one and lost two of their opening three matches of the season and they are just a point and a place above Akwa United.

The Promise Keepers hold a superior head to head record with two victories, one draw with one defeat in their last four meetings with Nasarawa United including a 1-0 victory last season at the Nest of champions.
