In his quest to secure a play-off spot in Group A of the 2022-23 Nigeria Premier Football League season, head Coach of Akwa United Ayodeji Ayeni has revealed that his team will not leave any stone unturned when they confront neighbours Enyimba International on Sunday in Uyo.
Akwa United, 3rd in the log with 19 points after 11 rounds of matches will engage 4th placed Enyimba who are a point behind their hosts on Matchday 12 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions.
Coach Ayeni in a pre-match interview with the club’s website www.akwaunitedfc.com stressed that his team will approach the game with a positive mindset aimed at securing all three points.
“We are 100% ready for Sunday’s game against Enyimba. We are not under any pressure, we will go all out with the right mentality because our target is to win the game.
“Football is all about goals and we have done a lot to ensure we will be aggressive and clinical in front of goal. Every match is very important to us and we won’t leave any stone unturned in the remaining seven games of the season.
“Enyimba is a good team, and we have that respect for them but come Sunday we will give our all on the pitch to ensure we pick all three points. Victory on Sunday will improve our standing in the table and will push us closer to where we want to be”.
Akwa United and Enyimba played out a goalless draw in the first installment of this fixture in Aba. Both teams have met 19 times in the top flight. The Promise Keepers have recorded six victories to Enyimba’s seven wins while six of those games ended in draws.
