The Chairman, management, staff and players of the 2021 Nigeria Professional Football League Champions Akwa United wish to express our sincere gratitude to God Almighty without whom no man can succeed. Our success last season in the Nigeria Professional Football League was made possible by God alone.
We wish to express our sentiments of our appreciation to
His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel for his wonderful package of appreciation and reward to us following our historic victorious campaign in the 2020/2021 football Season.
In a press statement released by the media department of Akwa United Friday evening in Uyo, Club Chairman Elder Paul Bassey said the Governor’s reward package drew cheers of gratitude from the Akwa United family.
” His Excellency’s pronouncement will go a long way in motivating, encouraging and strengthening the boys for the new season” the tested football administrator said.
“We are indebted to the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Sir Monday Ebong Uko for his unflinching support to us. Our success story would not have been possible without the proactive leadership, passion and resolve of Sir Monday Ebong Uko”
He went further to single out the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports Rt Hon Otuekong Nse Essien and his members for mention for their constant backing especially during our sojourn in Algeria.
“We thank the leadership of the ministry of Youth and sports led by the Permanent Secretary.
“We say a big thank you to the chairman of the state football association, Chairman and members of the Sports Stakeholders Committee, the State Referee’s Association, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, especially the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN Akwa Ibom State, Akwa Ibom Football Supporters Club, the State Coaches Association and everyone who stood by us to ensure we emerge victorious.
“We cannot forget our Fathers in Faith who stood in the gap for us throughout last season. Your support made the difference and we are not taking it for granted.
‘While thanking you for all your support last season, we believe that with your support we can do it again in the 2021/2022 football season” the chairman emphasized.
