Twelve-time Akwa Ibom State FA Cup champions, Akwa United will aim to lift the trophy for a record 13th time when they engage fellow Nigeria Professional Football League side Dakkada FC in the 2022 final of the state FA Cup slated for Friday 17th June, 2022 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Akwa United – champions of the NPFL made it to the final after a 1-0 victory over Sir Monty FC in the semi final while Dakkada FC also beat NNL side FC One Rocket by the same margin in the second semi final played at the training pitch of the Nest of Champions.
The Friday’s final which is scheduled to kickoff at 3:30pm will see the two NPFL teams going head-to-head for the second time this season. In their first meeting in the league this season, Akwa United won 3-2 and they will be hoping for another victory in the final.
Head coach of Akwa United Ayodeji Ayeni has tasked his players to put up their best performance to ensure they emerge victorious on Friday.
Captain of Akwa United Ubong Friday who has won the NPFL League title last season and national Federation Cup twice will be aiming for his third State FA Cup title when he lead his side to the final.
The two finalists will represent the state at the national FA Cup that will kickoff later in the year where the national winner will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup tournament.
