SEIDU, MARE, ETIM HEADLINE AKWA UTD’S NEW SIGNINGS

In an effort to present a formidable squad that will challenge for honours in the 2024-25 Nigeria football season, 2021 league champions Akwa United can confirm the acquisition of 17 new players from various clubs within and outside Nigeria.

The players according to their positions are; two goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders and four strikers.

Former national U-17 and U-20 utility player Charles Etim joined from Blessed Stars Football Club. Striker Mare Abson signed from Societe ASPAC Benin Republic, Ghanian forward Paul Acquah from Al Anwar, Libya, striker Chijioke Alaekwe from Tayaran FC, Libya and striker Ruben Bala from Coton Sport FC.

 

 

Others are, Ghanaian goalkeeper Seidu Mutawakilu from Rivers United, former Heartland FC goalkeeper Darlingtin Ovunda,
Left-back Ubong Williams from Katsina United, defensive midfielder Samuel Mathew from Doma united, midfielder Chiamaka Madu from Rivers United, centre-back Ebedebiri Endurance from Rivers United, and right-back Eric Oguocha from Plateau United.

Also joining the Promise Keepers are midfielder Kunle Oyetosho from De-Carddendal FC, defender Ferinyaro Abdullahi from Gateway FC, Stephen Wisdom from Bendel Insurance and Agu Samuel from Giant Brillars FC and midfielder Olakunle Akala from Nasarawa United.

Head coach of the team Muhammed Baba Ganaru expressed optimism that the players at his disposal are core professionals with necessary skills and quality to lead the team to glory in the new football season.

Akwa United will kick off their 2024-25 NPFL campaign against Lobi Stars at the Lafia City stadium on Saturday September 7, 2024.
