CHRISTIAN EKONG RISES TO SHINE WITH AKWA UTD

Akwa United’s young sensation Christian Ekong has promised to take it to the stage and bang in goals as the promise keepers begin their quest for a maiden NPFL title.

The newly signed player of the Uyo based club has assured the fans that when he is on the pitch of play he will take his chances, score goals and help his new team win games and trophies this season.

In a recent interview, the youngster said “I joined Akwa United because it is the most organised footbal club in this part of the world. When the opportunity came for me to play for the team I had no second thought.

“As a striker, I will score goals, help the club win games and trophies this season. We have top quality players in the attacking position, the likes of Mfon Udoh, Ndifreke Effiong, Ocheme Edoh, Akarandut Orok, Micheal Ohanu etc, but I will surely fight for a place and prove my worth in this team.

” We have a very good squad and I believe Akwa United will win trophies this season and qualify to represent Nigeria at the continental level “.

Ekong scored three goals for Delta Force in his first season in the NPFL after joining the Asaba based team in the second stanza of last season.

He may likely make his debut for the Promise Keepers when they face Warri Wolves on matchday one of the new season on Sunday 3rd November 2019 at Warri township stadium.

Ekong featured in series of pre-season friendlies for the club and put up some eye-catching performances.

The 19 year old is certainly one of the exceptional talents to watch out for in the 2019/2020 NPFL season.
