Moments after he was officially unveiled as new head coach of Akwa United, Fatai Osho has revealed that his mission is to bring back continental football to Uyo after two years of absence.

Coach Osho made this known while responding to the press after he was unveiled by the club chairman Elder Paul Bassey in the conference room at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions.

Coach Osho said his target is to win trophies with Akwa United and return the team to the top echelon of club football in Nigeria.

I’m delighted to be here as the head Coach of Akwa United Football Club. It’s a club every coach will want to work with. I’m already at home and the environment is welcoming and perfect for me to work.

“Akwa United is a top club and I’m here to win trophies and get this club back to the top where she truly belongs. Before joining this club, I already know that this is an ambitious team that will not accept failure of any kind, so my target is to bring back continental football to this state.

“I want to particularly thank the management of the team led by a veteran sports administrator Elder Paul Bassey for believing in me and for giving me this opportunity to work with this great club.

“The cooperation and support I have enjoyed since arriving here is an indication that we are on the right path to success. My technical officials and I, together with my wonderful players, will bring our wealth of experience into making this season memorable for the good people of Akwa Ibom State and all our fans and supporters around the world.

Coach Fatai Osho has signed a one year deal to handle the Promise Keepers in the 2023-2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season. His contract comes with an option of  extension.
