NPFL: AKWA UTD DEDICATE NEW SEASON TO GOD IN A THANKSGIVING SERVICE 

It was a special day of praise, worship, word ministration and thanksgiving to God as Two-time Federation Cup Champions Akwa United football club dedicated their 2019/2020 Nigeria  Professional Football League season to God in prayer.
The Chairman of Akwa United, Eder Paul Bassey led the entire Management, Staff, the Technical crew, players as well as the supporters of the club to the special thanksgiving service at The Apostolic Church, Ukana Onuk in Essien Udim Local Government Area.
Speaking on the club’s decision to dedicate the up coming season to God, Elder Bassey revealed that it was the tradition of Akwa United to always appreciate God for His love and mercies, blessings and achievements of the club in the past years.
” It has been our tradition in Akwa United to always put God first in all we do. We as a club cannot fail to appreciate God for all His love and blessings upon us as a team and as individuals.
“We have many reasons to thank God, because we know that traveling around this country to play games is a tedious exercise and as humans we have our limitations but God is always there for us.
“As a club, we are dedicating our 2019/2020 NPFL campaign to God in prayer and we trust that only He can see us through a successful season” the club boss conclude.
Elder Paul Bassey while expressing gratitude to God also made a donation to the church on behalf of the club.
In his sermon, the Pastor in-Charge of The Apostolic Church, Ukana Onuk, Pastor Gabriel E.  Umana admonished players of Akwa United football to work hard and be more dedicated in their chosen careers in order to benefit from their God’s given talents.
Pastor Umana who took his Bible reading from 1st Corinthians 15:10 and Mathew 25:14-30, tasked the team to always pray for the grace of God in all her endeavours.
” Without the grace of God, no man can achieve anything in life. It is only the grace of God that can position men on the road to realizing their destiny in life. My message to you today is that, you should be ready to work hard in order to develop your God’s given talent.
“If you want to achieve more in life, all you need to do is to remain steadfast and be committed in ensuring that you develop your talent. As we can see in the parable of the talents as recorded in Mathew 25: 14-30, whoever does not develop his/her God’s given talent will have it taken away from him/her.
“As a footballers, it’s expected of you to always strive to be the best and do your best for your team to succeed. Always remember to glorify God for the special grace and gift He has given to you.
Pastor Umana  commended the leadership of Akwa United for always showing gratitude to God, and explained that Thanksgiving to God always attract more blessings from God.
The man of God offered special prayers for Akwa United football club and wished the team success in the up coming season.
The Promise Keepers will kick start their 2019/2020 NPFL season with an away tie against Warri Woves on Sunday 3rd November ,2019 at the Warri township stadium.
