OLISEMA, OJOBO STORM ASABA WITH AKWA UTD FOR DELTA FORCE CLASH

The duo of Cyril Olisema and Markson Ojobo have revealed that they will not attach any form of emotion when they file out with Akwa United against their home town team, Delta Force on Matchday 20 fixture of Nigeria Professional Football League at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.

The two Delta state born players are part of Coach Rafael Everton’s eighteen man squad that will prosecute the game in Asaba on Thursday, and they told the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.net that their aim is to help Akwa United get the needed result.

” I don’t think that the match will be emotional for me. I am an Akwa United player and I’m a professional footballer so playing against my home team will not be difficult for me because I will not attach any sentiment”

Olisema who has scored three goals in all competitions so far this season further said, “This game is very important for us considering the fact that a win will qualify us for the Super-six play-off. So we can’t afford to lose sight on the target we set for ourselves.

One of NPFL most decorated players, Markson Ojobo maintained that although it would be an honour for him to play in front of his many fans in Asaba, he also said that his focus will be getting all three points for Akwa United.

“Playing in Delta has always been fun but we are in Asaba for a very serious business. Yes, we are top of the table and we do know that for us to play in the Super-six we have to continue to fight for all available points both home and away.

“We are leading with six points and we have three matches to go, so if all the top contenders in our group win their remaining matches and we do not we may not qualify. That is why it’s necessary for us to approach all the remaining games with the desire to win” the versatile defender concludes.

Group B leaders Akwa United are on 36 points from 19 games and will be seeking to continue their impressive run which has seen them won their last three matches. Victory in Asaba will secure a play-off spot for the Promise keepers with two games to spare.

Delta Force who began the 2018/2019 NPFL Season as Kada City FC were humbled 4-0 in the first leg in Uyo and the Promise Keepers will be aiming to do the double over their hosts on Thursday.

Delta Force recorded a resounding 2-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri last Sunday while Akwa United in their last home game defeated Yobe Dersert stars 1-0 and that defeat confirmed the Damaturu based side’s relegation to the Nigeria National League.

The match which will take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba is scheduled to kick off by 6pm and will be played under floodlights.
