RECORD WINNERS AKWA UTD CRUISE TO FA CUP FINAL, SET TO TAKE ON FC ONE ROCKET

Akwa Ibom State FA Cup record winners Akwa United strolled to their seventeen final in seventeen years following a comprehensive victory over Nigeria National League side Vandrezzer FC on Wednesday at Uyo township stadium.

First-half goal by the club’s most successful player Ubong Friday and a second-half screamer by youngster Nsikak Raphael gave the Promise Keepers a 2-0 win as they booked their place in Saturday’s final against NNL outfit FC One Rocket.

Akwa United, winners of the State FA Cup for a record fifteen times in sixteen years entered the 2024 competition in the semi-final stage and recorded victory against their opponent which qualifies them to the National Federation Cup competition which will start later this year.

The Promise Keepers, two-time champions of the National Federation Cup, will aim to defend their crown this year when they engage  FC One Rocket on Saturday at the traditional home of football in Akwa Ibom State – the Uyo township stadium and the two finalists will represent the State in this year’s competition.
