As Akwa United gear up for their match-day 10 encounter against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, right-back Samuel Ganda has made it emphatically clear that he and his teammates are determined to give their all to ensure they return to Uyo with all three points.
Ganda who has been an integral part of coach Fatai Osho’s team since his arrival from Bayelsa United before the start of the current season, has played in all Akwa United’s matches so far this season.
The defender told the club’s official website www.akwaunitedfc.com that last weekend’s 3-2 victory over Remo Stars has given the team the much needed inspiration while the Management’s support has been the motivation behind their push for success against Niger Tornadoes this weekend.
“Our victory last weekend has really inspired us to go for more wins. There is no doubt that we are here in Kaduna to fight for another three points. I’m proud to say that the mood in the camp is very lively and encouraging and we have been well motivated by the leadership of the club, so we have to reciprocate that gesture by giving our 100% on the pitch.
“Our current position in the table is not good enough and we have to pick ourselves up and fight for points in all our matches to ensure we move out of the danger zone.
“We know that the match with Niger Tornadoes will be a tough game because they are also having a difficult start to the season but we are fully prepared and determined to go into the game with a positive mindset”.
History favours Akwa United in this fixture as the 2021 champions has recorded seven victories and suffered three loses in ten meetings against Niger Tornadoes.
The Promise Keepers who are 17th on the log are two places and two points above Niger Tornadoes. The Uyo based club has won each of their last five games against this weekend’s opponents.
The match is scheduled to kickoff at four O’clock in the afternoon and there will be live updates of the game on all Akwa United social media platforms.
