IT’S A SHAME WE DIDN’T WIN – COACH FATAI OSHO

Coach Fatai Osho has described Akwa United’s goalless draw with Sporting Lagos as disappointing, and added that it was difficult to believe that his boys were unable to score a single goal despite having glorious goal scoring chances.

The Promise Keepers picked their first point of the season but dropped two valuable points as they were held to a goalless draw by the premier league new boys at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions on matchday 2.

Coach Fatai named former Dakkada FC goalkeeper Badmos Nurudeen and other new signings Anthony Chukwuebuka, Rilwan Sadiq and Osoba Kabir in his starting lineup but despite dominating the game they were unable to break down the backline of Sporting Lagos.

In a post-match press conference coach Fatai Osho expressed his disappointment and called on his boys to be ready to put in extra effort to ensure the team get the desired results.

It’s quite disappointing that we didn’t win this game. The quality in our attack let us down, we have to work on them, those are the ones we have at hand at the moment, we had four glorious chances and we couldn’t convert any of those chances, it’s unbelievable.”

“Nobody will be happy with that, we created chances but the strikers lacked the awareness to do the right thing. We know this team can win games and we will continue to work on them to ensure we get up the table”.

With one point from two games, the 2021 champions are at the wrong end of the table and will be aiming to turn things around when they engage Enyimba International this weekend in Aba on Matchday 3.
