WE ARE IN TOP SHAPE, EXPECT THE BEST – AKWA UTD

Akwa United Technical Director coach Edwin Okon has expressed optimism that the mood in the team’s camp is encouraging and added that the boys are in top shape ahead of Matchday 2 tie against Sporting Lagos.

Coach Okon said the level of progress in the team is commendable and call on the fans to come out en masse to support the team on Sunday.

On his part, head coach of the team coach Fatai Osho has assured the club fans that his team is fully prepared and ready to put in their best performance on Sunday when they engage visiting Sporting Lagos.

The Promise Keepers will be playing their first home match of the new season infront of their home fans and they are aiming to bounce back from their opening day defeat in Yenagoa against Bayelsa United.

Coach Fatai revealed that some of his injured players have returned to full fitness and added that his boys are determined to hit the ground running on Sunday.

This is going to be our first home match in front of our fans and we know that they deserve the very best from us because we have enjoyed tremendous support and encouragement from the Pastor Umo Eno led government who have put everything at our disposal to guarantee a hitch free season.

“We are in a good shape to go all out and give our best to ensure we achieve our target which is to win this game for our beloved fans and the wonderful people of Akwa Ibom State.

“We didn’t get the result we wanted on Matchday 1 but we have put that behind us and we are focusing on the game at hand. We have worked really hard since we came back from Yenagoa and I’m happy that the boys have shown serious improvement in training and I’m confident that they will take that sparkling form into the match proper on Sunday.

Reacting on the players available for selection in Sunday’s game coach Fatai Osho said “we are delighted that some of our key players are back from injury and have since resumed training. We have a good team on ground and they are all ready to play their part as we push for our first win of the season.

Akwa United and Sporting Lagos will be meeting for the first time in the NPFL. The 2021 champions lost their first match of the season 5-3 against Bayelsa United while Sporting defeated Gombe United 2-0 at Onikan stadium on Matchday 1.

The match billed for Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Nest of Champions will kickoff at four O’clock in the afternoon (4pm) while matchday tickets which goes for five hundred naira (N=500.00) and one thousand naira (N=1,000.00) will be available at the match venue from noon.
